DON’T CALL IT WEAK

ABOUT ME

“A musician cannot move others unless he too is moved. He must of necessity feel all of the affects that he hopes to arouse in his audience, for the revealing of his own humour will stimulate a like humour in the listener” - C. P.E. Bach -

Serena Giannini is a composer, singer, and virtual orchestrator whose life is a musical journey through a wide spectrum of genres. Growing up listening to a variety of styles ranging from classical music to jazz, electronic to blues, and more, she is a versatile artist who loves to explore without boundaries among different musical expressions. A nature enthusiast, she finds inspiration in the lush greenery that reflects her deepest self. Walks by the sea, with the sound of the waves as a backdrop, are moments of connection with her essence. It is during these experiences that melodies and sounds emerge from the depths of her soul. Her metaphysical and philosophical character drives her to continuously seek contact with her authentic self. For her, music is not just an artistic expression but a manifestation of her inner journey and continuous evolution as a human being and as an artist.

“Music is an art and art has its own rules. And one of them is that you must pay more attention to it than anything else in the world, if you are going to be true to yourself. And if you don’t do it and you are an artist it punishes you” – Nina Simone –

MANTRA

A mantra is an instrument of the mind, a powerful sound or vibration that you can utilize to enter a profound state of meditation. Similar to a seed planted with the intention of blossoming into a beautiful perennial, a mantra can be considered a seed for energizing an intention.

Lakshmi is one of the most benevolent female deities in Hindu tradition, associated with light, material and spiritual prosperity, as well as purity.

Almost always depicted seated on a golden lotus, symbolizing purity and rebirth. Her multiple arms hold various symbolic objects, such as golden coins and a horn of plenty, representing material wealth.

Mahamrityunjaya Mantra. Since birth, our actions are fundamentally driven by apprehension. This emotion can be categorized into three main aspects: the fear of death, the anxiety associated with losing things and people dear to us, and the dread of encountering failure in any form. All human endeavors aim to overcome such emotion. This Mantra, specifically, shields us from the profound fear of death.

Sarvesham Svastir Bhavatu – Shanti Mantra – A Sanskrit mantra sung for calmness, harmony and peace for all beings.

The profound inner quest for peace and benevolence towards others has always been at the core of the prayers and quests of those who follow a spiritual path, thus confirming its relevance and persistence over time.

So Hum (The Breath Mantra) is a Sanskrit phrase that literally translates to “I am That.” This concept entails identifying oneself with the universe or ultimate reality. As we meditate on this, we realize that we are all part of one infinite entity, and there is a deep connection that binds us all together.

The Mantra So Ham has been used for thousands of years to identify with the Universal Reality.

I took the liberty of setting the powerful Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra to music, synchronizing it with the images of the film ‘Little Buddha.’ Please listen with an open ear.

Little Buddha” is a film directed by Bernardo Bertolucci in 1993. The plot follows Lama Norbu, a Tibetan Buddhist monk, as he searches for the reincarnation of the “Little Buddha” among the children of Seattle. Simultaneously, the film narrates the life of Prince Siddhartha, destined to become the Buddha, in ancient India. Bertolucci skillfully intertwines the two stories, exploring spiritual themes and the path to enlightenment, delving into the profound meaning of life’s existential journey. The soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto, known for his versatility and talent in musical composition, significantly contributes to the film’s atmosphere and emotional resonance.

I took the initiative to craft a musical interpretation of the Sarvesham Svastir Bhavatu Mantra, a source of peace and harmony for all sentient beings. Subsequently, I synchronized it with the images of the film ‘Samsara.’ Please listen with an open heart.
